Terms of use

By registering and purchasing access to OldDocs (olddocs.co.uk) you agree to the following terms. Please read them before completing your registration.

What you are purchasing

OldDocs sells online access to digital content — transcriptions of historical English records. You are not purchasing a physical product or a downloadable file. Access is provided through a secure online account and is available from any device with an internet connection.

Two types of access are available:

  • Full archive access (£9.99) — access to all current collections on OldDocs, plus any new collections added in future, for a single one-off payment.
  • Single collection access (£2.50) — access to one named collection only, for a single one-off payment.

In both cases, access is permanent. There is no subscription and your access does not expire.

How registration and payment work

To purchase access you must create an account. During registration you will choose the collection or archive you wish to purchase, provide your name and email address, and create a password. You will then be directed to Stripe to complete payment securely. Once payment is confirmed, access is granted to your account automatically and you can log in immediately.

Your login details are your email address and the password you set during registration. Keep these safe — you will need them each time you log in.

Permitted use

You may use the transcriptions on OldDocs for your own personal genealogical and historical research. This includes making notes and recording information for your own use.

You may not copy, republish or redistribute OldDocs transcriptions on another website, in a publication, or in any other form — whether for commercial gain or otherwise — without written permission. The transcriptions are the copyright of OldDocs and significant effort has gone into producing them.

Each account is for personal use only and may not be shared with others.

Refund policy

OldDocs provides digital content. Access to that content begins immediately after your payment is confirmed — there is no delay, no download, and no separate delivery step. By ticking the acceptance box during registration and completing payment, you acknowledge that the digital content is made available to you immediately, and you agree that you lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

We do not offer refunds once access has been granted. If you experience a technical problem preventing access, please contact us and we will resolve it.

If your payment does not complete successfully, you will not be charged and no access will be granted.
