Leeds Directory 1781
Part of the Merchant's & Tradesman's Useful Companion series, this directory lists 160 bankers, merchants, manufacturers and eminent traders of Leeds in 1781. Unlike the broader town directories in this series, it focuses on the upper tier of commerce — wool staplers, cloth merchants, distillers and professionals. Leeds at this period was a prosperous wool and cloth town, its merchants engaged in the finishing and export of West Riding textiles.
